Lunch Guidelines for

Kindergarten

(Lunch time: 12:10-12:40)

1.   Children are seated in the lunchroom by class.

2.   Beverages are passed out to the children using the card that is available.

3.   When all beverages have been distributed, the children with white lunch cards will line up and a teacher or parent will walk with them to the hot lunch line.

4.   Children with hot lunch may receive second portions on certain hot lunch days (check with the chefs).

5.   The children must remain in their seats (even if they are done) until the whistle blows (12:30ish).  When the whistle blows, they may throw their trash away but must return to their seats.

6.   The teachers and parents then do a check for trash around the lunchroom.

7.   Children are dismissed by table.  When a table is dismissed, the children stand up, push their chairs in, and line up by class.

8.   Children will quietly walk up the stairway with teachers and parents and head through the school building to the playground.

Recess Guidelines for

Kindergarten

(Recess time: 12:40-1:05)

1.    Children must be supervised at all times throughout the recess period by parents and members of the St. Elizabeth School staff.

2.    Parents can circulate the playground to monitor the children playing with ball games, sandbox, and bikes on the blacktop.

3.    Rough play is not permitted on the playground at anytime.  Children who continue to play in a rough manner may be given a time-out.

4.    Children should not play with sticks during recess.

5.    Children are not permitted in the shed to remove toys.

6.    Children may not enter the school building alone or with another student.  All kindergarteners must be escorted by a parent or staff member to the bathroom.

7.    A parent should inform another parent or staff member if they are leaving the playground to walk a student into the building.

8.    When the whistle is blown, the children line up by classes and wait for their homeroom teacher to arrive.

9.    Parents help staff members with collecting chalk, balls, bikes, and sandbox toys.

10.  If bad weather prevents recess outside, the children will be in their homerooms playing with things that the teacher has left out for them.  Parents on duty should make sure there is coverage in all the kindergarten classrooms.

11. We hope that you are able to join us for lunch and recess duty.  It

is a great way to be involved at the school and to see your children in action.
