 Dear Parents and Guardians,

In keeping with the Archdiocese of Washington’s Child Protection Policy, annual Personal Safety Education will be taught this fall by our teachers of religion. They will be using resources approved by the Catholic Schools Office to teach age-appropriate lessons.

The following standards from the Child Protection Policy will be addressed:

  1. Basic safety skills
  2. Recognition of dangerous and abusive situations
  3. Recognition of appropriate and inappropriate physical contact
  4. Ability to say no to unwanted situations
  5. Ability to identify and tell an adult with whom you trust
  6. Ability to understand importance of disclosure if inappropriate actions are directed at self or others
  7. Recognition that abusive situations are never the fault of the child
  8. Ability to safely navigate through internet forums

I will be working with our teachers to coordinate compliance with the implementation of the Personal Safety Education program. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your support as we work together to equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to ensure their safety and protection.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kathleen D. Hirsch
