RECESS SIGN-UPS FOR 2009 – 2010 NOW OPEN
Greetings Saint Elizabeth Parents
The 2009-2010 school year is upon us and we are working hard to make this another great year for the kids. September is the time for our students to return to their class work and of course their favorite RECESS. The success of the recess program at St. Elizabeth depends on the volunteering of our families. Recess is a great way to see who your child plays with and to see him or her in action. The school daily recess continues rain or shine and you can fulfill your obligation on this all the way until May 26.
New This Year!!!!
We are introducing a new on-line sign-up system called Volunteer Spot.
We hope this new system will ease the sign-up process for all of us.
·
When you are ready to sign-up, just click on the link below to get started.
Once you open the calendar, it will show the dates of coverage needed.
·
Each date has four available slots.
If a date is full, it will say FULL.
If it is not full, it will show the number of available spots.
Click on your preferred date, it will add your name and prompt you for a
few additional pieces of information.
Please take a moment to type in your name and phone number.
This is very helpful to us when we print the calendar.
We do not always recognize email addresses.
·
Sign-ups are on a first come-first serve basis.
·
You will be sent a confirmation e-mail with the dates you selected and two days
prior to the date you will receive a reminder from Volunteer Spot.
If you are not able to fulfill your scheduled date, you will be
responsible for finding a replacement.
A list of substitutes will be made available on the recess section of the
website.
·
At this time, please only sign up for your two required recess sessions to allow
all families the opportunity to select dates.
After October 31st, we will open the calendar to anyone who would like to
select additional days. Remember
you can earn all of your volunteer hours at recess!
·
The cut-off date to sign up is October 31.
Also, at the beginning of each month a hard copy of the recess calendar will be
printed and placed at the front desk.
Please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the recess time to
receive your assigned zone on the playground or classroom assignment.
The recess time is from 12:00 noon to 1:30pm, PLEASE plan to stay for the
entire time.
Always check in at the Front Desk and don’t forget to record your recess hours
in the Volunteer Log. This is the
only way you will receive credit for completing your recess volunteer hours for
the school year. Prior to your first scheduled date please take a moment to read
the recess guidelines that can be found on the recess section of the Thursday
folder. These are extremely
important and describe your responsibilities.

You can also connect on the Thursday folder.
Click on the Recess tab in the left column and then click on the Master
Calendar.
Remember that three of your volunteer hours per family need to be recess hours. Below is the recess policy.....
· Each St. Elizabeth family will be responsible for three hours of recess duty, each year regardless of weather. (Indoor recess also requires adult volunteer monitors.)
· This requirement can be fulfilled by ANY adult family member who is VIRTUS approved and finger-printed. Mothers, fathers, adult siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents are all welcome and can help the family to reach the three hour goal.
· A family will be charged $30 per hour for each missed hour. Families will be asked to locate substitutes when plans change and should notify the recess coordinator of these changes at least 24-hours in advance of the scheduled volunteer time - unless an emergency arises.
· A master recess calendar will be available to view at the front desk as each month is filled throughout the year.
· Families will be scheduled for 90 minute days, from 12:00 to 1:30.
· All Mandatory Recess hours MUST be recorded in the volunteer log books. (Volunteer log books are located at the Front Desk.)
· Kindergarten parents who have just one child at St. Elizabeth are exempt from this requirement during the K year.
Thank you so much for volunteering; you make the St. Elizabeth recess program a
success. If you have any questions
or would like to be placed on the substitution list, please contact Andrea
Taylor at norwellgirl@comcast.net.
