Volunteer Application and Clearance

Step One:            Virtus Registration

• Register online for a three hour Child Protection Training (Virtus) session at  http://www.adw.org/youth/protect_index.asp.  From the site the next link is: “Child Protection Training: Schedule and Sign-Up”.
• This registration must be completed before an appointment can be made for fingerprinting!!!
• Training should be completed as soon as possible and at the latest within sixty (60) days of submitting the Volunteer Application Form.
• At the Virtus session be sure to sign-in so that your attendance can be verified.
• Return a copy of attendance certificate to Mrs. Tvelia after the session.
• Sessions are regularly available at different parishes in the Archdiocese. 

Step Two:           Volunteer Application

• Complete and Sign the Volunteer Application Form. (Front and back). 
• Return to Mrs. Tvelia at the school for Mr. Spadoni’s signature.   This step must be completed before an appointment can be made for fingerprinting!!!
• Receive from Mrs. Tvelia a copy of your signed application to take to the fingerprinting appointment.  We cannot record your application until you register for Virtus.

Step Three:        Policy Review and Acknowledgement

• Review the Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection Policy
• After reviewing the policy sign and date Appendix E – Acknowledgement located at page 63 at the end of the document
• Return Appendix E – Acknowledgement to Mrs. Tvelia

Step Four:                   Fingerprinting and Clearance (after steps 1 & 2 complete)

• Make a fingerprinting appointment.  (Fingerprinting is by appointment only and appointments are made by telephone).
• Obtain signed form authorizing fingerprinting from Mrs.   Tvelia.
• Authorization form needed for day of the appointment, photo ID also needed.
• STEP ONE: Virtus registration, and STEP TWO: Volunteer Application, must be complete before a fingerprinting appointment can be made.
• Cost is $36 payable by check or money order only.
• Return fingerprinting receipt to Mrs. Tvelia as proof after appointment.
• Bring copies of BOTH Federal and Maryland clearances to Mrs. Tvelia when you eventually receive them in the mail.
